Parade Magazine Honors Four Dallas Texans Players
Congratulations to Jared Jeffrey, Greg Garza, Ian Kalis and Kim Castleberry
Area soccer player named nation's best
08:40 PM CDT on Monday, May 19, 2008
By DAVID HINOJOSA / The Dallas Morning News
Jared Jeffrey, a 17-year-old from Richardson, has been selected as Parade magazine's boys soccer national high school player of the year. "This is a huge honor," said Jeffrey, a midfielder who played club soccer for the Dallas Texans. "It's something that I'm grateful to get." Jeffrey heads to Europe next month to begin his professional career with Club Brugge, one of the top clubs in Belgium. He signed a three-year contract with the club in F ebruary. "I'm really excited about getting to go over there," said Jeffrey, who begins training June 18, four days after his 18th birthday. "I'll be living on my own and get a chance to play soccer in Europe."
It's the second year in a row Parade's boys player of the year has come from the Dallas area. Last year's selection was Corben Bone of Plano. Jeffrey attended St. Mark's until eighth grade, then enrolled in the U.S. Soccer under-17 national team residency program in Bradenton, Fla., as a 15-year-old freshman. He played for the U.S. U-17 team for 2½ years before returning home in January.Jeffrey is among nine area athletes recognized by the magazine, which publishes its team in Sunday's edition.

Dallas Texans Soccer Club Ranked
#1 in Boys and Ranked #2 in Girls
"I would like to thank Soccer America for noticing the hard work that youth clubs around the country are putting into their programs. This truly is an honor for the Dallas Texans Soccer Club players, parents and coaches. An accomplishment like this will help soccer clubs, such as the Texans, to attract more serious soccer players and more dedicated parents," said Hassan Nazari, founder and director of the Dallas Texans. "What I like the most about this honor is that it does not only recognize the wins and losses, but it looks at the development of the youth player. Being successful in the US Youth Soccer National Championships Series and constantly producing and developing youth players for the state and regional US Youth Soccer ODP teams as well as the national and college teams will help our club to be noticed. Once again, on behalf of the Dallas Texans coaching staff, players, parents and volunteers, I would like to thank Soccer America for this great honor."
